Misty, lead photographer and owner of Photography by Misty, has been capturing genuine smiles for 23 years. She initially fell in love with people and their stories as a journalist with degrees from the University of North Texas in journalism and political science.

With a team of experts who are also passionate about people, Photography by Misty is fueled from the inside out. Honesty reigns over perfection, as Misty’s team is not performing brain surgery. To borrow from Herb Kelleher, “A company is stronger when it is bound by love rather than by fear.”

Misty’s short and long-term goals include establishing financial freedom for herself and her team, continuing to make the Lord, her parents, husband and children proud through her business and personal achievements. Misty’s daily goals include turning to God for guidance and gratitude, as well as making someone feel loved, especially making a stranger’s day.

She is proud and feels lucky to have been born in the United States of America to her parents, John & Judy

Misty serves as an adjunct professor with Collin College, is a graduate from Leadership Plano Class #36, served as a commissioner with the City of Plano’s Cultural Arts Commission, is a board member with the Plano Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Pool. She can be seen cleaning her adopted Plano highway and is also a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10KSB program.

Misty was named the Plano Chamber of Commerce’s  Small Business Person of the Year in 2021.

As much as Misty looks forward to Mondays and working with her team of experts, she enjoys ballroom and Latin dancing, as well as backyard karaoke with her husband. Together, they have a daughter Rhylie, an electrical engineer who lives in Castle Rock, Colorado, with her husband. Their son John Michael proudly earns his wages at Southwest Airlines and is in training to become a flight dispatcher. He and his wife have gifted the family with two grandsons.
